Description
DCMTK's private dictionary hasn't seen a major update in the last couple of years. It would probably be a good idea to align the "private.dic" file with other freely available DICOM toolkits (e.g. dicom3tools, dcm4che, gdcm).
But be careful when using the wrong VR (see issue with private Philips tags of VR "SQ" vs. "non-SQ").
