RT Brachy Treatment Record¶
The focus for this Radiotherapy Brachy Treatment Record IOD (RT Brachy Treatment Record IOD) is to address the requirements for transfer of treatment session reports generated by a treatment verification system during a course of Brachytherapy treatment, with optional cumulative summary information. It may also be used for transfer of treatment information during delivery.
The following "special" modules are used in this IOD:
- RT General Treatment Record: General information like Treatment Date and Time (of last treatment), reference to the RT Plan delivered, reference to any significantly related Treatment Records. Further description see here.
- RT Patient Setup: Describes the positioning of the patient with respect to the treatment machine, along with any fixation devices and shilding devices, used. Optional Module.
- RT Treatment Machine Record: Contains a few attributes describing the treatment machine used. Further description see here.
- RT Brachy Session Record: Large module. Documents the running conditions and outcome of a set of brachy treatments. Counterpart to RT Beams Session Record module in tele(=beam)therapy.
- RT Treatment Summary Record: Describes current status of the treatment in terms of planned/delivered fraction groups and measured doses. Optional Module. Further description see here.
RT Brachy Session Record Module¶
The Brachy Session Record Module documents the running conditions and outcome of a set of brachy treatments and therefore is the "core" module of the Brachy Treatment Record IOD. The information documented can be structured in:
- Operator's Name
- Fraction information: Reference to corresponding Fraction Group in RT Plan and Number of Fractions planned for this group.
- Brachy Treatment info: Brachy Treatment Technique (INTRAVASCULAR, PERMANENT, ...) and Brachy Treatment Type (MANUAL, PDR=Pulsed dose rate, ...)
- Defintion of Sources (referenced later): Manufacturer/Serial Number/Type(POINT,CYLINDER,...)/Isotope Name/Isotope Half Life/Air Kerma Rate of Source.
- Treatment Session Application Setup Sequence: Contains one or more Application Setups (one per item), so for each setup it is documented what was done. This sequence encloses rest of module (some pages in standard) .
- General Application Setup info: Setup...Name/Manufacturer/Template Name and Type. Application Setup Check (EV: PASSED, FAILED, UNKNOWN)
- Referenced Verification Images: Any verification images acquired during treatment within this setup
- Total Reference Air Kerma for current setup (see standard...)
- Referenced Measured Dose: Measured doses during treatment delivery (summed up over entire session)
- Refernced Calculated Dose: Doses estimated for eacht treatment delivery.
- Current Fraction Number: Number of the fraction (corresponding to this setup) within the fraction group this Treatment Record IOD documents
- Treatment Delivery Type (DT: TREATMENT, CONTINUATION), ... Termination Status (EV: NORMAL, OPERATOR, MACHINE, UNKNOWN), ... Termination Code, ... Termination Verification Status (EV: VERIFIED, NOT_VERIFIED, ...)
- Brachy Accessory Devices used: ID, Device Type (DT: SHIELD, DILATION, ...), Device Name, ...
*Recorded Channel Sequence: Channels (device by which a source is placed in its intended treatment position or positions) for this application setup. One or more channels can be documented (one per item).- Channel Number and Length (in mm), Specified and actually delivered Channel Total Time (in sec)
- Source movement Type (DT: STEPWISE, FIXED, ...)
- Pulses: Specified and Delivered Number of Pulses (for Brachy Treatment Type PDR, see above), Specified and actually Delivered Pulse Repition interval.
- Measured Doses: Summed up doses measured during treatment delivery
- Calculated Doses: Doses estimated for treatmetn delivery
- Source Applicators Used: Applicator ID, Type, Name, Length (in mm), Manufacturer, Step Size
- Transfer Tube: ID Number of Tube and Length.
- Channel Shields: Channel shields associated with current Channel
- Referenced Source: The source used
- Safe Position Exit (for Treatment Type MANUAL) time and date + Safe Position Return
- Brachy Control Points Delivered: Sequence documenting "machine configurations" describing the channel (two or more items). This Control Point Sequence is significantly shorter compared to the one from teletherapy, where normally lots of machine parameters can change between two control points. For Brachy there not so many changes to document.
- Treatment Control Point Date/Time, denotes, when Control Point was reached
- Override Sequence: Specifies which attributes (planned) were overriden together with specifying a reason and the Operator Name that authorized the overriding.
